Struck by The Royal Mint in 999.9 fine gold, this £100 legal-tender coin contains a full 1 troy ounce (31.103g) of pure gold and measures approximately 32.69mm in diameter.
The reverse features Jody Clark’s magnificent depiction of the White Lion of Mortimer, one of the ten heraldic beasts associated with Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. The White Lion is the seventh beast in The Queen’s Beasts series and the second lion to appear in the collection.
The White Lion represents loyalty and discipline and has strong connections to the Yorkist royal heritage. The lion holds a shield displaying the iconic white rose of York combined with the golden rays of the sun, a symbol associated with Edward IV.
The obverse features the fifth and final portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, also designed by Jody Clark, while the distinctive chainmail-style background adds an impressive level of detail to the design.
Graded PCGS MS70, the highest Mint State grade, this example represents an exceptionally well-preserved specimen with no post-production imperfections visible under the grading standard.
